Viewing, filtering, and navigating the schedule

Key features of the Blueprint OMS integrated scheduler

The main Scheduling screen provides:

  • Appointment scheduling for multiple locations
  • Scheduling for multiple providers and resources at each location
  • Support for an arbitrary number of different event types, each having its own default duration
  • Filtering by appointment status, provider, or resource
  • 1-day, 5-day, 7-day, and 31-day views
  • Tracking of patients in-clinic
  • Mobile integration with iPhone/iPad and Android devices
  • Sales opportunity tracking with closing rate statistics
  • Appointment analysis reporting
  • Tools for handling incoming online appointment bookings
  • Tools for initiating telehealth videoconferences 


Selecting a location view

  1. In the top, right-hand corner of the Scheduling screen, click the drop-down menu to select the desired location, if operating in multiple clinic locations. Selecting <All> displays appointments for all clinics.


< All can be set as the default location. See: Setting up roles and users for more information.

Switching between day/week/month views

  1. On the toolbar, click the 1-day, 5-day, 7-day, or 31-day button to switch between views.


    When in the 31-day view, click on the desired day to open to the selected date and switch to the 1-day view. When in the 5-day or 7-day view, click on a desired day in the header to open the selected date and switch to the 1-day view.

Appointment Status Icon

On the toolbar, you have the ability to show or hide the status icons. Select to hide the appointment status icons. You can view the icon key here


Moving forward and backward on the schedule


On the toolbar, click the Forward and Back buttons to navigate forward or backward in time.

In the 1-day view, the Forward button moves to the next day, in the 5-day view it moves to the next week, and in the 31-day view it moves to the next month. 

Viewing today's appointments

On the toolbar, click the icon to open to the current date and switch to the 1-day view.


Viewing patients in the clinic

The Patients in clinic monitor displays on the left side of the Scheduling screen when a location is selected. The patient's name is preceded by the provider's initials.

Selecting a date using the annual calendar

On the annual calendar in the lower, left-hand corner of the Scheduling screen, click on the desired date.

Click the   and   buttons to move to previous or future years.

Viewing the preview panel

The preview panel is located at the bottom of the schedule. When using the mouse to hover over the desired appointment, the preview panel will show appointment details. The appointment status icon, whether there is a linked journal entry, the time of the appointment, and the type of appointment is displayed. If viewing <All> locations, the appointment location will display to the right of the appointment type.


The preview panel also displays:

  • Patient name, phone number, and appointment notes in the first column
  • Provider and resources in the second column
  • Any online forms sent with the appointment in the third column
  • The patient's photo in the fourth column

Overview of filtering appointments

Appointments can be filtered to display a subset of appointments. Use the Filter by drop-down menu in the upper, left-hand area of the Scheduling screen to filter appointments by:

  • People
  • Resources
  • Event type

Filtering by people

  1. On the Scheduling screen, click the Filter by drop-down menu, and select People.

  2. Select the check box next to the desired provider(s) to see appointments assigned to the provider(s).

    Colors for providers can be adjusted within the Setup menu. See: Creating new users for more information.

Filtering by resource

  1. On the Scheduling screen, click the Filter by drop-down menu, and select Resources.

  2. Select the check box next to the desired resource(s) to see appointments assigned to the resource(s).

    To color code the appointments by appointment type, but keep the filtering by provider or resource, click the Color by appointment type check box.

Filtering by event type

  1. On the Scheduling screen, click the Filter by drop-down menu, and select Event type.

  2. Select the check box next to the desired event type(s) to see appointments assigned to the event type(s).

    Event type colors can be adjusted within the Setup menu. See: Setting up event types for more information.

Filtering by appointment status

  1. On the Scheduling screen, click the Status drop-down menu.

  2. Select a status option to see only events with the designated status. Status descriptions include:


StatusDescriptionAdditional Information
<Active>Displays all appointments which are not Cancelled or No show, as well as Cancelled/No Show appointments which still require rescheduling.See: Changing appointment status.
<Inactive>Displays Cancelled or No show appointments (which have already been rescheduled or do not require rescheduling), as well as Deleted appointments. 
ConfirmedDisplays firmly established appointments.
TentativeDisplays unconfirmed appointments.
No ShowDisplays appointments for patients who neither kept nor cancelled their appointment.See: The Needs action panel.
CancelledDisplays appointments that will not take place.
Left MessageDisplays appointments in which a communication was left for a patient who could not be contacted directly.
ArrivedDisplays appointments in which a patient is in the waiting room.See: In-clinic monitoring.
In progressDisplays appointments which are currently taking place.
CompletedDisplays appointments which are finished.

The appointment status filter can be applied on top of other filters (e.g. people, resource, event type). See: Editing existing appointments for more information.
